 National Adoption Apology

Financial Help Available to attend National Adoption Apology

On March 21st the Prime Minister will deliver “An apology for Forced Adoption Practices” in Parliament House, Canberra.

The Attorney General’s Department has given Adoption Jigsaw a special grant to assist West Australians to attend.  Priority will be given to those on low incomes, with some fully and some partially funded places. Funds are limited and if oversubscribed recipients will be chosen by ballot. Applications for financial support will close on Friday Feb 22. Anyone who relinquished a child, or is adopted in Australia is welcome to apply for assistance.

Those unable to attend are invited to come together and watch the apology on TV, it will be an emotional time and no doubt many tears will be shared. Ms Andrews said Jigsaw will organise a get together as soon as the time of the apology is announced.  We invite anyone who can come to ring and register their interest for catering purposes.

To apply for financial support, register for a Perth get together or simply to talk about your experiences contact Jigsaw on 9384 0222 or by email to: jigsaw@jigsaw.org.au
