FAQs - LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

Eligibility

How can I check if I am eligible to participate in a learning and development program?
Contact us if you are unsure about a specific program, but in general we offer programs to Department for Child Protection and Department for Communities staff, non-government community organisations funded and endorsed by the Department and the Department's foster carers.

Acceptance

How will I know if my enrolment on a program has been accepted? What will happen if a program is full?
You will be sent a confirmation letter via email within 2 working days. This letter includes details of the program, facilitator’s background, venue and parking options. If a program is full, you will be notified that and told when to re-apply for the next scheduled one.

Cost of programs

Is there a charge to attend a learning and development program?
No, it is free to eligible participants. LDC also offers fee for service programs for those people who do not meet the eligibility criteria. We can provide facilitation, and design and development of resources. For more information about how we can assist you please email ldc@dcp.wa.gov.au.

How to find us

Go to the Learning and Development Centre page to find information on parking, public transport and local amenities.

Times of programs

What time does my program start and finish?
Please check your calendar appointment for the details of each program.

Food and refreshments

What is available in the way of food and refreshments?
LDC provides tea, coffee and biscuits. There is also a microwave oven, refrigerator, crockery and cutlery on site if you would like to store and prepare your own food. If you prefer to purchase food and drink, there are several outlets located near LDC. In some cases, lunch is provided at learning and development programs, however please check your confirmation letter and information pack first, or call us to check.

Qualifications

Will I get a qualification by doing the training?
That depends on the type of program. We deliver nationally recognised programs which will give you a qualification if you complete all the requirements. We also offer professional development learning and development. You will be issued a certificate of attendance for professional development programs.
